Copyright Protection Center of China
Authorized by the State Organization Commission, the Copyright Protection Center of China (CPCC) is a social copyright management and social service organization under the direct leadership of the General Administration of Press and Publication of the PRC (PPA) and the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC). The purpose of CPCC is to, in accordance with the Copyright Law of the PRC and other relevant laws and regulations, safeguard the legal rights and interests of copyright owners and relevant parties of such rights, to encourage the creation and dissemination of various published works, to bring about the prosperity of science and culture, and to promote the development of China’s copyright business and copyright industry.
CPCC was established in Beijing in September 1998. To meet the requirements of China’s reformation and development, PPA and NCAC decided that the Copyright Agency of China (CAC), the Software Registration Center of China (SRCC) (deregistered), the Remuneration Collection and Distribution Center for the Use of Copyright of China (RCDCUCC) (deregistered), and the Editorial Office of Copyright Journal (now named China Copyright) shall be put under the uniform management of CPCC.
With the functions and characteristics of the original agencies and its new responsibilities, CPCC has set up 8 branches and departments.
With its standardized and efficient work and its spirit of innovation and commitment, CPCC is committed to provide professional, specific and comprehensive service for copyright owners, users and disseminators of published works and all circles of the society.
Main Functions of CPCC
1. Copyright Registration
Responsible for the registration of copyright in computer software, registration of pledge contracts on copyright, registration of copyright in various published works, verification and registration of publishing contracts of imported audio-video products, and public information.
2. Copyright Agency
To organize various negotiations on copyright trade home and abroad; to offer information and consultation services related to copyright trade; to act as an agent for copyright owners upon the latter’s request, and to provide the service of selecting subjects of works to be published; to collect and distribute the remuneration for the use of copyright as entrusted by the copyright owners and users of the published works.
3. Legal Services
To offer legal consultations, mediation of copyright disputes and attorney for copyright litigation, and to offer long-standing legal services for copyright owners and organizations of copyright industry.
4. Copyright Authentication
To offer technological authentication for copyright disputes as entrusted by various judicial authorities and copyright administrations.
5. To offer information services on protection of copyright, to collect and disseminate various copyright protection information and to carry out copyright trade by e-commerce.
6. To edit and publish the journal China Copyright.
7. To carry out propagation work on the legal knowledge of copyright and to organize training for staff of the copyright industry.
8. To carry out other work related to copyright protection and copyright services.
